From Suvarnabhumi Airport, direct to Pattaya
The route from Bangkok to Pattaya is very easy. Without traffic jams, the journey only takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes. With traffic jams in the afternoon, it can take up to 5 hours.

Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes to a maximum of 5 hours

Pattaya is 120 kilometers east of the city of Bangkok. There are various means of transportation to get from Bangkok Airport to Pattaya. As long as you don't arrive at night it is an easy and pleasant journey. Arriving in the dark for the first time, I cannot recommend that. It then works a little too much of everything.

From the plane, through passport control and then to the baggage carousel.
Then it's only a 5 minute walk. You can get yourself a SIM card for Thailand and then decide on a means of transport. It is not necessary to reserve a taxi in advance and it only complicates matters.

FAQ right at the beginning:
What is the best way to get from Bangkok Airport to Pattaya?
By mini bus
The best option to get to Pattaya from "Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK)" is the mini bus from any provider at the airport. You can buy a ticket inside the airport. The destination is called the hotel name of the booked hotel in Pattaya and you can go directly to the mini-bus, which is directly opposite (approx. 100 meters) the terminal exit (parking spaces opposite the exit). These mini buses usually run every 30 minutes. The maximum waiting time after purchasing a ticket is therefore 30 minutes. As soon as all the available seats on a mini bus have been sold or the 30 minutes have passed, the mini bus starts immediately. The suitcases are stowed in the trunk. A large suitcase + hand luggage are included in the price.

Conclusion: absolutely recommendable, perfect.
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
Price: 120 baht
On the way to level 1 arrival you will see several stalls with a small sign with "Bus Pattaya" on the counter. Small mini buses are offered here, which drive you directly to the hotel entrance in Pattaya. The ticket counter of your choice is located just in front of the large glass door that leads outside. Start is as well as about 9 people have bought a ticket. Then the mini bus drives to every hotel in Pattaya and lets a passenger get out. The only disadvantage of this means of transport is that you may be the last to get off. Then it can become a 1-hour city tour. A bit annoying, but if you're not arriving in Bangkok in the after-work traffic, then the streets are clear and everything goes very quickly.

Airport Pattaya Bus
Conclusion: I cannot recommend it
Duration: 2 hours
Price: 120 baht bus + 80 baht baht bus
Large buses run daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. from the airport exit to Pattaya. You only have to go to the Arrival Terminal Floor 1. The bus stops a little outside the beach region at a small bus station (bus stop), so a pickup taxi (Baht bus) is necessary again. This costs up to 100 baht for the last 3 kilometers. Here, of course, is ripped off again. You can also find a cheaper taxi a few streets away and save 20 baht, but the effort is not worth it. If the last stretch were not so annoying and felt like rip-off, the bus would have been ideal.

Taxi at the airport
Conclusion: it is only worth it from +4 people
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
Price: 1500 baht + toll fee 110 baht
Surcharge taxi:
1500 baht is a standard price (maximum price). Any higher price a taxi driver charges is a rip off. The taxis are 5 steps after the airport exits and are already waiting. There are also several directional signs inside the airport. The expressway (motorway) should definitely be used. This has to be paid for by the passenger. Either in advance in the total price or after consultation with the taxi driver at the end of the journey or with impatient taxi drivers every time at the toll booths. Without an expressway, the taxi has to "sneak" through Bangkok's traffic jam. Depending on the time, there is hardly any way through and can quickly extend the journey by up to 4 hours. The taxi drives either at a fixed price of around 1500 baht or by taximeter. According to taximeters from 1050 baht to 1500 baht depending on traffic conditions.

Conclusion:
The taxi and the minibus are about the same speed. If you arrive at night or around 4 p.m., a taxi might be better. A taxi is also worthwhile if you can share the cost of 1500 baht with several people. In principle, however, the minibus is always the preferred choice as a means of transport to get from Bangkok Airport to Pattaya.
