The route from Bangkok to Pattaya is very easy. Without traffic jams, the journey takes only about 1 hour and 30 minutes. With traffic congestion in the afternoon, it can take up to 5 hours.

Distance
Distance: 120 Km
Price: 120 Baht to 1500 Baht
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes to a maximum of 5 hours.

Pattaya is located 120 kilometres east of Bangkok. To get from Bangkok Airport to Pattaya, there are various means of transport. As long as you dont arrive at night it is an easy and pleasant journey. Arriving in the dark for the first time is not something I recommend. It seems a bit too much of everything.

Off the plane, through passport control and then to the baggage carousel.
Then its only a 5-minute walk. You can get a SIM card for Thailand and then decide on a means of transport. Booking a taxi in advance is not necessary and only complicates things.
By mini bus
The best option to get to Pattaya from "Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK)" is to take a mini-bus from any operator at the airport. A ticket can be purchased inside the airport. You name your destination, hence the hotel name of the booked hotel in Pattaya and you can go directly to the mini-bus, which is located directly opposite (about 100 metres) the terminal exit (parking spaces opposite exit). Usually these mini-buses run every 30 minutes. The maximum waiting time after purchasing a ticket is therefore 30 minutes. As soon as all available seats on a mini-bus have been sold or the 30 minutes are up, the mini-bus will start immediately. Suitcases are stored in the luggage compartment. One large suitcase + hand luggage are included in the price.

Conclusion: absolutely recommended, perfect.
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
Price: 120 Baht
On the way to the Level 1 Arrival you will see several stalls with a small sign on the counter saying "Bus Pattaya". Here, small minibuses are offered to take you directly to the hotel entrance in Pattaya. The ticket counter of your choice is just before the big glass door that leads out into the open. The bus starts as soon as about 9 people have bought a ticket. The mini-bus then drives to every single hotel in Pattaya and lets one passenger off. The only disadvantage of this means of transport is that you may be the last one to get off. Then it can turn into a 1-hour city tour. A bit annoying, but if you dont arrive in Bangkok during rush hour, the roads are clear and everything goes very quickly.
Airport Pattaya Bus
Conclusion: I cannot recommend
Duration: 2 hours
Price: 120 baht bus + 80 baht baht bus.
From 7am-2pm, there are large buses that run directly from the airport exit (Exit 8, Floor 1) to Pattaya every day. All you have to do is go to Arrival Terminal Floor 1. The bus stops a little outside the beach area at a small bus station (bus stop), so a pick-up taxi (baht bus) is necessary once again. This costs up to 100 baht for the last 3 kilometres. Here, of course, they rip you off again. You can also look for a cheaper taxi a few streets away and save 20 baht, but the effort is not worth it. If the last stretch wasnt so annoying and felt like a rip-off, the bus would have been ideal.
Taxi at the airport
Conclusion: only worthwhile for +4 people or more.
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
Price: 1500 Baht + toll 110 Baht
Surcharge taxi:
1500 Baht is a standard price (maximum price). Any higher price a taxi driver charges is a rip-off. Taxis are waiting 5 steps past the airport exits. There are also several signs inside the airport. The motorway (highway) should be used in any case. This has to be paid for by the passenger. Either in advance as part of the total fare or after consultation with the taxi driver at the end of the journey or, in the case of very impatient taxi drivers, each time at the toll booths. Without Expressway, the taxi has to "sneak" through Bangkoks traffic jams. Depending on the time of day, it is almost impossible to get through and can quickly extend the journey by up to 4 hours. The taxi either goes for a fixed price of about 1500 baht or by taximeter. By taximeter from 1050 baht to 1500 baht depending on traffic.
Conclusion:
The taxi and the minibus are about the same speed. If you arrive at night or around 4pm then a taxi might be better. A taxi is also worthwhile if you can share the cost of 1500 baht with several people. In general, however, the minibus is always the preferred choice as a means of transport to get from Bangkok airport to Pattaya.
