Fun in Pattaya

Fun tourism - Some detest it, others come to Thailand for exactly that reason. Pattayas "fun" tourism attracts about 10 million visitors a year. About 40,000 women offer their affection and "fun" services. A mans paradise as well as a mans wish. Of course, there are other good reasons to visit the city south of Bangkok but the offer of "fun" workers is evident throughout the city and is part of the cityscape from late afternoon onwards.

A taxi ride from Bangkok Airport (Suvarnabhumi Airport) to Pattaya starts at 26 to 34€.
A bus ride costs between 5 and 7€. If you arrive at night or for the first time, you will be grateful for a quick and convenient taxi. So the more convenient method is the taxi.
The cheaper method, however, is the bus. The journey takes 1.5 to 3 hours depending on the traffic. Buses run from 7am to 2pm. Taxis around the clock.
For whom is Pattaya interesting/ for whom unsuitable?
Although there have long been regular press reports that Pattaya should become more family-friendly, "fun" tourism has always been tolerated. Opinions about this city are divided. Besides the actual business, parties and festivals are a highlight from Monday to Sunday, every day! So if you are here to party, you are in exactly the right place.
No, Pattaya is not (yet) suitable for families. So besides the obvious red light milleu (all of Pattaya) and the general ambience of the red light, the only entertainment seems to be made for single male travellers. Drinking, bars, partying and pretty women in all the streets of Pattaya.
Beach (?)
Pattaya is always described as a seaside resort, but it is not.
The clear majority of testimonials on the internet illustrate how dirty the beach must be and how uninviting the sea on your doorstep can be. Besides this fact, the road directly along the beach is also used for "fun" encounters. A dream for men travelling alone and open to it. A feeling of a typical Thailand island dream does not arise for everyone.
Hotels
The choice of hotels in Pattaya is first class. Countless top hotels and just as many cheap small rooms with only a bed, table and TV from 9€ a night. The hotels in the south, in the center and also in the north are all well placed. Prices start at good location from 25€ per night to 30€ without significant difference. Very good hotels with pool on the hotel roof, with garage and first class rooms are available from 50€ a night. The opinion that the best location is in the middle of it, therefore near or close to Walking Street is debatable. Sure it has advantages but a quiet sleep is not to think of. New or renovated rooms for under 9€ to 15€ are already booked out 2 months in advance. These cheap rooms are only suitable for single travelers already because of their very small room size. These cheap rooms are mainly suitable for short stays to stay only a few steps later already in a go-go bar.

Middle class or expensive hotels can be booked all year round without a reservation and on the spot. Exceptions apply to the most popular hotels in Pattaya. From Walking Street to Soi 6 are the majority recommended hotel regions. Regardless of whether north or directly in the center, rail buses are constantly going up and down the streets along the sea. There is also traffic on the road behind. Therefore, the location of the hotel is rather secondary as long as the hotel is not facing east. The use of cabs is not recommended by the majority, since excessive prices are demanded by cab drivers. At the roadside it is sufficient to draw attention as soon as a bahtbus is in sight. This stops and waits until the Fahrgat has entered. The ride continues along the road until a passenger presses the stop button. After the bahtbus has stopped, the disembarked passenger pays 10 baht (approx. 0,25 €) directly to the driver. Do not ask the driver for the fare before a ride, because he will "suggest" 150 baht. Hotel prices drop somewhat the further east you go. Often, hotels with a few rooms are very cheap. Hostels like 18Coins are available for less than 8€ a night in a dormitory with several beds. The location is great but the comfort is very limited. Great for backpackers and its also a great way to meet new people.

The hotel portals sometimes differ considerably. The best prices and the most varied offer all year round can be found on booking.com and agoda.com. These portals use Google Maps, which also makes it easier to get an overview.

Walking Street is located in the south of Pattaya, close to the beach.
Hundreds of bars, gogo bars, massage parlours (with happy endings) and many top discos are located directly in and around Walking Street. The street and the side streets at night consist of a sea of red lights in which countless tourists cavort and move up and down the street. Along the street, to the left and right, are countless bars and go-go clubs.
Thai women try to make a place in the bar palatable to the visitors.
During the day, the beer bars are closed. As soon as evening falls, the city changes completely and its called:

"Hey beautiful man" ... "Hey handsome.." .. "can i come with you" ... "bum bum"
