Dreamy beaches sound too good to be true. But thats exactly what Ko Phi Phi offers. Here we go. Dreamy! Have a great time on Koh Phi Phi island with the following tips and information. Even away from mass tourism. When talking about the island of Phi Phi, you usually hear from friends that it is far too touristy and not beautiful. To see for yourself, take the boat from Phuket in the east to Koh Phi Phi.

The question is whether there is really only party and Mallorca-Ballermann or whether tropical dream beaches make for an unforgettable time.

Arrival
Arrival
Arrival is by boat only, either at "Ao Tonsai Pier (Ton Sai Beach)" or Laemtong Pier (Laemtong Beach).
Laemtong Beach
It is very quiet in this region. This is due to the few hotels that are there. So there are fewer other people and it generally offers more relaxation, but it is also more expensive.
Ton Sai Beach
The islands main beach, called Loh Dalum, is located here. The beautiful beach is probably one of the main reasons. All of Phi-Phi is something very special. The small alleys and the pure life create a uniquely positive atmosphere. Couples can spend a great day and evening here together or just as a couple. The people here are automatically all very nice and friendly. The open bars invite you to linger. Contact with others is quickly established and entertainment is guaranteed. There are many hostels, bars, restaurants and most importantly during the day, the long sandy beach with one of the best views of the bay you can imagine. The focus in the high season from December to February is on "younger party people". There is loud music and wild hustle and bustle wherever there is something for tourists to do at night. It is therefore worth planning a short stay in the Ton Sai Beach area if you are not looking for a party. During the day it is less disturbing if you are sensitive, but to expect comfort in a party area in the evening would be wrong. Many choose the great island in conjunction with the Laemtong Beach area.
Important
It is important to realise in advance that this really is a small tropical island. Shopping facilities are limited to the minimum. There is not a single large supermarket. Phi-Phi is not comparable to Ko-Samui. The biggest difference at first glance is the infrastructure. There is no traffic on the small island, whereas Ko Samui can be circumnavigated once by yourself with a rented scooter. So exploring is only possible with a hike. But that doesnt have to mean anything negative. Everyone is enthusiastic about this flair. You have to see it for yourself. Please dont spoil the surprise by watching too many videos and taking too many photos. If you have the chance, go to this island and discover it with your own eyes. Its an incredible feeling there.
Arrival from Phuket / Krabi to the quiet "Laemtong Beach".
If you are travelling from Phuket and want to go to the quiet beach of Laemtong Beach, you can take the regular boats, but you would have to approach a longtail boat on arrival to take you to your actual destination. The boats all land at the main beach. This is not a problem, but good to know in advance. Basically, travelling within Thailand is unproblematic. There are countless travel agencies run by private individuals, all offering the same transport and tours. If you tell someone where you want to go, there are no misunderstandings. With the name of the hotel, you have all the information you need to ask the locals for directions.
White sand and turquoise water
The beaches around Phi-Phi are particularly interesting at low tide. But you have to see it for yourself. Swinging from the trees.

Island walks are particularly beautiful on Phi-Phi. The change to another beach or the very popular viewpoint high up. Sturdy shoes are an advantage. With enough time and a slow pace, you can enjoy the walk.

Two large islands offer themselves as destinations:

Koh Phi Phi Don
Koh Phi Phi Don, the larger of the two main islands, is 8 kilometres long and 3.5 km at its widest point. This is where your hotel and party are located. Koh Phi Phis centre for nightlife is Loh Dalam Bay. So on the northern side of the small village. There are no discos here. The bars are well frequented and every night there are beach parties with fire shows and lots of guests. The island attracts young people who turn the beach, which is so quiet during the day, into a party mile in the evening. There is a good choice of hotels. Just search for "Phi Phi" on Booking. You cant go wrong, because there are no hotels on the smaller island to the south. It is recommended to stay close to the village on the eastern side. This way you are centrally located and a trip to Long Beach is not far away.

Koh Phi Phi Leh
Koh Phi Phi Leh is 3 kilometres long and 1 kilometre uninhabited at its widest point and consists almost entirely of cliffs and caves. A must, of course, is Maya Bay at Koh Phi Phi Leh as a day trip. If you dont know it, the film "The Beach" with Leonardo Dicaprio was shot there.

The most famous beach on Ko Phi Phi Don (pronounced PeePee) is Long Beach.
Chill and party every night.

But the centre of Phi Phi Don is the area between the two mountains. Many small shops, diving schools, restaurants and various bars characterise the "townscape".
Ko Phi Phi is very manageable and sometimes even overcrowded with tourists during the high season (approx. December to March).

How to get there:
The nearest airports are either in Krabi or Phuket.
It takes 1.5 to 4 hours (approx. 45km) by water from Krabi or Phuket to get to the island. Ferries leave several times a day. The fare is about 11 euros (one way).

Hotels are rather rare. However, there are also very cheap options here.
For example, for 21 days (10.12 to 31.12) already from about 200€ total price (lowest category).
In the high season, however, the total price in a good hotel starts at 1200€ (57€ per night).

Maximum chilli, fantastic beaches and Maya Bay at Koh Phi Phi Leh are absolute plus points for a great beach holiday.
An early morning visit is recommended, as the rush of visitors sometimes becomes too much of a good thing. Caution. Phi Phi is very manageable, so it could quickly become boring in "bad" weather.

*All outgoing links are so-called Ref-ID links. This means that if you buy something (no one has to, of course), the linking party (in this case the author) earns a few cents without it costing you more.
