Pattaya FAQ
FAQ, right at the beginning:
Who is Pattaya suitable for?

For singles.
What makes Pattaya special?
The city parties and drinks alcohol all year round. If you want to party and have fun, this is the place to be. At the same time, the city is the largest red light district in the world. This means that an estimated 50,000 ladies earn their money in Pattaya with love for sale. This makes up a large proportion of all the females you see partying at night.

Pattaya offers everything but relaxation and tranquillity. Unforgettable holidays are not only experienced by tourists from all over the world but also the Thai population is drawn to the beach of Hua-Hin or Pattaya on weekends. The infrastructure is very good, but it is not designed for the masses that travel to Pattaya in the high season from November to February. But dont worry about long traffic jams, these are limited to after-work traffic in the afternoon to early evening. Nowhere are there more scooter taxis and baht buses. With the baht buses that follow fixed routes, a ride along the route is always only 10 baht. There is probably no cheaper means of transport in the whole of Thailand than the baht buses in Pattaya. With an outstretched hand, the open-top car stops and allows passengers to board at will. By pressing the bell located above the passengers heads, the baht bus stops anywhere along its route. Down the beach road to Walking Street. The route continues along Second-Road to the starting point of the route (second street counted from the beach).
Overnight stays
An overwhelmingly large number of hotels are located along Pattaya Beach. Also along the second beach road and the third. Choice is plentiful. Long-term tourists are drawn further south to Jomtien Beach (Jomtien Beach). There are more flats there. Neither beach is really quiet. Pattaya is a great place to sleep, eat, shop and, above all, party. There is nothing left to be desired for single men travelling alone. The hotels are very cheap compared to the Thai islands. There are a few hostels, many budget rooms and enough choice up to luxury hotels.
best time to travel
Pattaya is good to visit all year round. At least people come for the beaches. It is definitely the nightlife that has made a name for itself here. Therefore, the weather is secondary. But dont worry, its warm and sunny all year round in Pattaya. You should be careful with the heat between March and May. People with circulatory problems will have a hard time here.

Especially recommended are:
April is Songkran, the traditional New Year celebration of the Tai people according to the Thai lunar calendar. The streets are crowded, there is a water fight and the whole city joins in. Several days of fun, water and alcohol. From the end of November to the end of January is high season. Prices are a bit higher for hotels and everything else, but the festive mood is world famous at this time of year.
Journey to Pattaya
From Bangkok airport or UTP airport, it takes 1.5 to 3 hours to reach your destination. Mini-buses are the preferred transport option for most tourists. Up to about 200 baht from the airport to the hotel is the most comfortable and also cheapest choice. Tickets are available directly at the airport exits. Transport is no problem, just mention the city of Pattaya and the name of the hotel. Nothing more is necessary.
Worth seeing
Attractions or destinations are rather scarce in Pattaya. Although Pattaya is officially advertised as a seaside resort, neither the beach nor the attractions attract anyone to travel to Pattaya. Partying, flirting, fun. Hardly anyone talks about sightseeing in Pattaya. Only once per holiday a temple is visited or similar sightseeing is done during the day. Therefore, it is not a family holiday in Pattaya. However, there are excursion destinations around Pattaya that are very popular. The islands around Pattaya.
Restaurants
Probably only Bangkok has more restaurants. Pattaya offers local cuisine for every nationality and endless restaurants for Thai food. The restaurants are cheap and have fully adapted to tourism. Eating out in Thailand is no problem at all. The city has small Seven-Eleven or Family-Marts every 500 metres. Pattaya really has it all.
Islands around Pattaya
Several times a day, medium-sized transport boats leave Pattaya harbour for Koh-Larn. Just about everyone has done this day trip. Its easy, you can walk yourself to the harbour at the end of Walking Street and buy a ticket for the crossing. You get on the boat with many others to the islands and get off. Once there, you can enjoy a day at the beach. Once youve had enough sun, you go back to the port of Koh-Larn (which consists of a single jetty) and drive back to Pattaya. Cheap, easy, beautiful.

The largest red light district in the world

As the sun goes down, the nightlife in Pattaya kicks off daily. All year round, every day, almost without exception. The millions of lights from the bars, go-go bars and clubs come on, suffusing the whole city with a red sea of lights. Thai ladies start the shift as barmaids, GoGo dancers or freelancers along the beach. Late at night, the discos in Walking Street fill up and the party starts.
